Considered one of East Tennessee's oldest towns, Dandridge, TN is only a 23-minute drive from action packed Pigeon Forge, Tennessee and only a 35-minute drive to Gatlinburg, Tennessee. If New England type towns are what you seek, then the quaint little town of Dandridge is your mountain town pick. With the awesome surrounding natural beauty of Douglas Lake and the magnificent scenic views of the Great Smoky Mountains, this is a required stop for any tourist coming to East Tennessee.

Dandridge's architecture and New England environment, with all its quaint historical shops, will keep your curiosity and interest consumed for hours. The Dandridge General Store and Café is filled with the aroma of fresh brewed coffee and candles. Filled with history and yes, all the unique antiques and novelties you would aspect from such a five star developed community is the old restored Frank L Gass Building. Here you will also find locally homemade items of every sort. In the Café you will discover that breakfast is served from 7 am until 10:30 am Tuesday through Thursday and then from 8 am until 10:30 am on Fridays and Saturdays. You will love it.

If antique glassware, furniture, nostalgic pottery and jewelry are your fancy, you will want to browse Rachel's Attic. If you sew, you will be amazed at the old 1930's wood chest that is located in the attic that stores antique spools of thread from days gone by. Rachel's Attic is open each day, except Sundays, from 10 am until 5 pm.

By now you are hungry, so why not stop over at the best steak and Bar-B-Que you have ever savored! The Smoky's Steak and BBQ is perhaps the best in Tennessee. Step back into time when you walk into the restored 1826 Gass General Store Building. The atmosphere and environment will capture your heart, but the food is what you will go away talking about the most. With Bar-B-Q ribs where the meat literally falls off the bone and the tender beef brisket is second to none, will keep your hunger pains non-existent! The best Angus beefsteaks cooked to your delight are awaiting you at Smoky's Steak and BBQ in Dandridge, Tennessee.

So, when making plans to visit the Great Smoky Mountains, take the short drive from Pigeon Forge and head on over to Dandridge where stepping back in time is a distinctive experience in and of itself.
