What's a sure sign that spring has arrived? The first appearance of the robin? Warm, sunny days? Nope. In the Smokies, it's opening day at Dollywood that lets everyone know that a new season of fun and travel is upon us. The Pigeon Forge theme park kicks off its 2013 season with the opening of its annual Festival of Nations celebration, which runs through April 22.
During Festival of Nations, more than 25 countries are represented through their respective music, dance, food and art. Among the groups performing are Cirque Shanghai from China and the Mystic India show. Other participating nations include France, Mexico, Poland, Ecuador, Germany and Scotland.
Each day, Dollywood's One World Celebration unites all the visiting performers in a unique musical bash that takes place throughout the Showstreet section of the park. Dressed in colorful native costumes, the international cast enthralls guests and sets the stage for the entire festival.
Dollywood is centrally located in the Smokies, so whether you're staying in Gatlinburg chalet, a Pigeon Forge condo or a Sevierville rental cabin, head on over to Dollywood and welcome spring back to the mountains.
