A Great Weekend For Shopping

Did you know that this weekend, August 2 through 4, is the Tennessee Sales Tax Holiday? That means you won't have to pay the state's nine-percent-plus sales tax on clothing items that cost $100 or less, school supplies that cost $100 or less and computers that cost $1,500 or less. This is an ideal situation for parents who are doing their back-to-school shopping or anyone looking for a little savings on any of those items.

Of course, in the Smokies, there are numerous places to find clothing in particular. Outlet malls like Pigeon Forge Factory Outlet Mall, Pigeon River Crossings and the Tanger Outlet Center in Pigeon Forge are great places to start. Sevierville shopping options include the Tanger Five Oaks Outlet Center, which is having a huge sidewalk sale during those same dates. In Gatlinburg, there are numerous shops along the Parkway that feature clothing merchandise.

Those shopping for computers might try either the Staples or the Walmart in Sevierville, and of course Walmart is a popular place to go for basic school supplies.
